Dr. Els works collaboratively with allied health professionals, educators, and families to develop integrated formulations and practical management plans. Referrals are welcomed for diagnostic assessments, care coordination, review of complex presentations, and ongoing neurodevelopmental follow-up.

Dr. Belinda Els is a paediatrician currently completing a master’s degree and fellowship training in paediatric neurodevelopment. She’ll be with us on a part time basis, to help treat co-occurring conditions in our neurodivergent children.

Her focus is on comprehensive assessments, diagnostic clarity, and longitudinal support for children with complex developmental, behavioural, and learning profiles.

Her clinical approach is neurodiversity-affirming and family-centred, recognising the wide variability in neurodevelopmental trajectories and the significant burden often placed on families navigating fragmented healthcare, therapy, and educational systems.

Conditions and Presenting Concerns Appropriate for Referral:

  • Autism spectrum conditions (including subtle or later-identified presentations)

  • Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)

  • Giftedness and twice exceptional (2e) presentations

  • Global, fine or gross motor developmental delays

  • Intellectual disability

  • Specific learning disorders (dyslexia, dyscalculia, dysgraphia)

  • Developmental coordination disorder (dyspraxia)

  • Speech and language delays or differences

  • Sensory processing differences

  • Emotional regulation difficulties

  • Behavioural concerns at home or school

  • School refusal or school-related distress

  • Sleep difficulties (initiation, maintenance, circadian dysregulation)

  • Feeding difficulties with developmental components

  • Anxiety related to neurodevelopmental differences

  • Cerebral palsy or suspected cerebral palsy

  • Genetic or syndromic conditions with developmental impact

  • Prematurity-related developmental concerns

  • Epilepsy with associated developmental or learning difficulties
